Port Sunlight Museum
Port Sunlight Museum celebrates the unique heritage of the beautiful and historic industrial village of Port Sunlight – people, formal planning, architecture, and parks & gardens – from its foundation in 1888 for William Hesketh Lever’s soap workers, to life in the village today.
The ‘Transforming Port Sunlight’ project comprised an extensive overhaul of the Port Sunlight Museum, including the internal graphic panels and displays, the signage and the shop. New external panels were placed in the village, interpreting key locations such as the Port Sunlight War Memorial. Following the refurbishment in 2013, the museum now boasts a stylish gift shop and tea room along with a new special exhibitions gallery and improved permanent exhibitions delving deeper into Port Sunlight’s significance.
